The weekly recap: May 4

I’ve worked remotely for Hyland for almost 13 years now. Lovely family members and wonderful friends live in the Cleveland area as well, so I’m very familiar with the local culture.

And one thing I’ve learned is this: You do not make fun of the Cleveland Cavaliers professional basketball team.

The Browns? Have at it. The Tribe? Sure, especially when referring to teams of the “Major League” era.

But don’t you dare say a word about the Cavs. For example, in early March, I read an article that talked about three billboards urging LeBron James to leave the Cavs for the Philadelphia 76ers. So I asked some friends at work if I could make a few jokes about the situation.

So I’m extremely happy to report that this week, the Cavs – the most dominant team in the history of organized sports – continued their amazing playoff run, led by LeBron, who will never, ever leave Cleveland.

… Again.

While that’s been going on, here’s what we were up to.

The Hyland Blog

  • Working with organizations to achieve their goals is what we’re all about at Hyland. We love supporting our customers through challenges and helping them become successful.

But it’s rare when we get to see the exact moment when they reach important milestones, as Lorna Green, Hyland’s Manager of Healthcare Sales, notes. That’s why the recent HIMSS Stage 7 awards – when a customer invited Lorna on stage to share the spotlight – were so special.

  • Last year, Shane Winnyk, Hyland’s Licensing Manager, joined The Littlest Heroes (TLH) in celebration of his 20th re-birthday – the anniversary of overcoming childhood cancer – as a means of giving back.

Check out Shane’s heartfelt thank you to Hyland for being TLH’s Community Partner of the Year.

  • What do social media and the EMR have in common?

Kate Barney, a Hyland Healthcare Marketing Principal, takes a look at how the healthcare world has grown to expect too much of EMRs, much like some people have unrealistic expectations for social media.

  • When Hyland Developer, and veteran, Joe Kocsis recently talked about how proud he was that Hyland won a Military Friendly Employers Gold Award, we were pleased by the positive reaction. So, as a new opportunity for readers and Hyland employees to learn more about military life, we’re introducing a new blog series called the Veteran Hylite.

Look for highlights of our veterans monthly!

Hyland news

“As these new customers transition from Nolij to OnBase, we love connecting them with the community of 20 other Nolij users already making the change,” said Dave Vegh, Director of Higher Education Sales at Hyland. “We’re eager to support this group throughout the process, and to promote collaboration with each other to share successes and make the journey easier.”

My favorite thing this week

He ate the first 50 in about two minutes, but struggled from there, because he was “stuck in the tornado of sugar.”

That’s not the kind of moxie I would expect from a dude ranked third by Major League Eating. You have to put your head down and power your way through a sugar tornado. Everybody knows that.

Leave a comment if there are Cavs in your weekend. Or cupcakes. And if that’s the case, let us know how many you polished off and how quickly you did so.

Have a great weekend!
