The weekly recap: June 22

Here in the northern hemisphere it’s … officially summer. We made it!

This year, that means it’s time for the World Cup. So far, I’m really enjoying the “flop” videos. I love it when an opposing player is 10 feet away and someone takes a dive in an attempt to get a penalty kick. So much fun.

In addition to all the footy action this week, we had plenty going on here on The OnBase Blog, as well as The Hyland Blog. Here are the highlights.

The Hyland Blog

  • “I want everyone to feel like I did when I joined Hyland in 2008. It was the first time in my professional life where I felt accepted and comfortable being me. I didn’t have to hide anymore.”

So writes Rebecca Scina in a strong blog post where she officially announces the creation of Hyland Pride Alliance, an LGBT+ employee resource group.

I’ve worked for Hyland for almost 13 years, and one thing I can tell you is that Hylanders really do treat one another like family. Over the last 27 years, we’ve built the kind of environment that makes people feel safe, empowered, and motivated. In this kind of environment, we’re driven to go the extra mile for our customers and partners.

  • What does Wayne Gretzky know about healthcare claim denials? You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.

And sometimes, it seems like there’s no goalie, as 90 percent of claim denials are preventable. Kate Barney shares tips on how to optimize your denial management process to improve your revenue cycle management, ensure you’re reimbursed for all services rendered, and decrease the number of billing days.

  • Technology is moving forward at an incredible pace. We’re in the midst of organizations implementing digital transformations, IT departments utilizing rapid application development, and enterprise content management evolving into content services.

It’s a lot to keep up with. Especially when it means so much to your business, notes Drew Chapin, Hyland’s Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications.

But don’t worry. We’ve got you covered at CommunityLIVE.

  • Graduating from college and looking for your first professional job can be stressful. But if you find the right internship, writes Hyland intern Amy Adawalla, you can figure out exactly what you want to do, and learn how to excel at it.

Check out Amy’s post to see what she’s already learned about the evolving world of social media in marketing.

My favorite thing of the week

  • For my fav thing of the week, we head back to the World Cup. Did you hear that fans might have caused a minor earthquake while celebrating Mexico’s win over Germany? It’s true.

I wonder, if every player flopped at the same time, would it cause a tiny trembler or would everyone just look at them thinking, “You can stop writhing in fake pain and get up now.”

That’s it. Talk to you next week.

Enjoy the first official weekend of summer!
