The weekly recap: July 20

And another one gone, and another one gone

Another one bites the dust

In case you don’t know, those lines are from the epic rock song “Another One Bites the Dust,” by Queen. And based on the trailers I’ve seen, the upcoming movie about that innovative musical group is going to be unbelievable. I get goose bumps every time I watch it.

I doubt Queen was talking about weeks going by in the tech world, but you never know. Regardless, check out what we were up to this week.

The Hyland Blog

  • The end is near for the fax machine! And it’s about time, as Alexander Bain invented it in 1873.

That’s why this week was so important, as two of Ohio’s largest healthcare entities shared medical records securely and electronically, without a fax to be found. Mike Hurley couldn’t be more excited about it.

  • Do you ever feel you’re going it alone? Because you don’t have to.

My favorite thing of the weekartificial intelligence

  • Artificial intelligence. It’s everywhere.

Did you know that when you use navigation apps, digital personal assistants, and ride-sharing apps, you’re using artificial intelligence? It can be a bit overwhelming when you really think about it.

Before you consider going analog, though, there is comforting news around AI. It can help us sort fact from fake news, improve the way we work through intelligent data capture and even make our water supplies safer.

Who knew? … Besides our robot overlords.

And so, another week has bitten the dust. Have a great weekend and let’s do it all over again on Monday!
