Hyland’s high school Innovation Showdown is coming soon!

It’s time for Hyland’s High School Innovation Showdown!

The showdown is a team competition that tasks students to use their creativity to come up with an innovative concept that could solve a real-world problem. Teams will conduct brainstorming sessions, develop project plans and work together to showcase their idea effectively. Hyland employees serve as mentors for the teams throughout the competition, giving students direct access to industry professionals for guidance and insight.

This competition is a unique learning experience for both student teams and Hyland employees. The students are given the opportunity to experience what it’s like to work on a project in a real-word setting, and employees gain leadership skills as they advise students on their projects.

The Innovation Showdown is one of many programs that Hyland offers for high school students. It’s not only a chance for students to grow their professional skills, but it provides exposure to a company where they could work one day. Hyland has hired several interns who have participated in our tech outreach programs while they were students in high school. In fact, 10 summer interns this year went through at least one of our programs.

Throughout the competition, students will be challenged to communicate both effectively and professionally as a team, and with their Hyland mentors. Attendees will learn valuable project management skills while working alongside their teams to plan and execute their projects, creating and adhering to deadlines, and delegating tasks.

Students will gain valuable experience throughout the Showdown, but they also have the chance to win prizes, too! Prizes will be awarded to members of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. Each member of the 1st Place Team will also receive a $500 scholarship, and the opportunity to have a networking lunch with Hyland’s Chief Product Officer, John Phelan.

Team registration is due by October 3. Detailed information can be found on the Tech Outreach website. Don’t forget to sign up for the newsletter so you don’t miss out on important program announcements!
