I’m thrilled to have been elected to AIIM’s new board of directors

I’m a humble guy, just ask the millions of people around the world who love me – or maybe tolerate me – like a big brother.

Of course, I’m kidding. I want to keep things light because I’m actually very moved and extremely honored to have recently been elected to the Association for Information and Image Management’s (AIIM) board of directors.

AIIM provides education, research and guidance for organizations seeking better information and process management strategies. With more than 20 years of experience in information management and advanced capture, I’ve seen up close how using technology to free people from the constraints of the paper-based world helps them do their jobs more efficiently and effectively.

Using technology to empower people

For me, it’s all about the end users. It’s about putting valuable information in their hands exactly when they need it, so they can provide superior, knowledgeable service to their patients, clients, customers, members, constituents, students and stakeholders.

In the case of healthcare, information – Epic electronic medical records in this example – can save lives.

That’s why I’m so dedicated to helping organizations achieve their fullest potentials by using technology like enterprise content management (ECM), document capture and case management solutions. This ambition coincides perfectly with AIIM’s promise to provide the most relevant, educational and unbiased content to its members.

Given increases in information volumes, types and sources that need to be captured and consumed by a broader set of constituents – and then integrated with core systems and made available through numerous form factors, both within and outside of organizations – never before has AIIM played a more central role. The organization has a unique opportunity to expand its leadership by reaching a new audience of business professionals looking for expert advice about how to best put their information to work. Through market research, strategic counsel and educational programs, AIIM will help shape the future of our industry.

While I may ultimately be the one with a seat on AIIM’s board of directors, I bring with me an army of experts ready and willing to support AIIM’s mission of improving organizational performance through empowering information-driven innovation.

Okay, maybe not an army. More like the world’s greatest team. A team that has been around for 25 years and experts recognize as a leader.

Again, I’m honored to join AIIM as a board member. And, as a proud member of the northeast Ohio business community, I’m excited for all of us as distinguished organizations like AIIM are increasingly tapping members of our community for leadership positions. All in!
