Hyland a ‘Leader’ in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Content Services Platforms

Late last year, IT research and advisory firm Gartner gave additional credence to what we all – software providers and consumers alike – have been experiencing over the past several years: Enterprise content management (ECM) as a term no longer fully encompasses the needs of organizations at a time of digital transformation (think cloud-based, mobile-ready, collaboration-centric solutions).

The firm proclaimed, “ECM is dead,” in favor of the moniker “content services,” reflecting a shift in the way that organizations create, use and share content.

This spurred an evolution in how Gartner evaluates the space. This year, Gartner retired its long-running Magic Quadrant for ECM (in which Hyland received the ‘Leader’ title seven years over), launching a brand-new Magic Quadrant for Content Services Platforms. Content services platforms, according to Gartner, are a set of services that coordinate content usage by all parties – users, systems and applications.

Leading the content services platform pack

With this evolution, Hyland is delighted to be named a ‘Leader’ in Gartner’s inaugural Magic Quadrant for Content Services Platforms.

Both OnBase by Hyland and ShareBase by Hyland, our enterprise cloud-based secure file sharing and collaboration solution, were evaluated in this new report.

Perhaps what’s most exciting about this recognition is that it further supports the stance that we’ve long held – that to embrace digital transformation, organizations need more than the ability to manage content. They need an enterprise information platform that provides a variety of content services, equipping business users with the information they need, when and where they need it, regardless of where it resides.

The reality is that OnBase has always worked in conjunction with organizations’ other core business platforms: Providing content services for those systems, augmenting key processes, offering case management capabilities and adding a layer of security to protect critical business information. ShareBase extends those services beyond an organization’s four walls, allowing employees to securely share and collaborate on content with customers, vendors, patients, students and other stakeholders.

User-based innovation

Earning this coveted spot from one of the industry’s most respected analyst firms is just the tip of the iceberg. The entire Hyland portfolio of products are only getting better. In fact, the enhancements we’ve made in our most recent version of OnBase – including an elevated user experience with a modernized interface, greater configurability and expanded integration options – only further empower our customers to fundamentally digitize their workplaces and transform operations.

And we based thousands of those enhancements on user requests.

Meanwhile, the Hyland family of products and services continues to grow. With our recent acquisition of the Perceptive Software business unit from Lexmark International, Inc., we’ve expanded our portfolio of content services offerings to ensure there’s truly no content, process or case management challenge we can’t solve.

On that end, we’ll continue to develop our technology to make it quickly and readily available; continue to build lightweight, responsive applications and intuitive user interfaces; and continue to empower organizations big and small by partnering with them on their journeys toward digital transformation.
