One reason why LeBron is returning to Cleveland: It’s a great community

interns 2015

He made the announcement. LeBron James is returning to Cleveland.

No press conference. No party. It’s time to get to work.

“My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball,” says James. “I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now.”

People who work at Hyland know that relationship well. We’ve been in Northeast Ohio for almost 25 years. Our growing global headquarters is located in Westlake, Ohio.

Westlake isn’t Silicon Valley. It’s suburban Cleveland. So we don’t always play in the spotlight. But for almost 25 years now, we’ve been (somewhat) quietly working hard, solving business problems and earning the reputation as a worldwide leader in enterprise content management (ECM).

So we understand that it takes time to be a leader.

I was with fellow Hylanders at a conference in D.C. four years ago when we heard the news that LeBron was leaving. While I always knew my coworkers were passionate and funny, I’d never seen them take on a subject so… passionately.

But four years later, he’s coming back. And we share so many values – hard work, giving back to the community and helping others – I guarantee everyone is going to welcome him with open arms. I think he’s going to do well as a Cavalier.

Meanwhile, we’ll be right here working to make this a great place to live and work.

Northeast Ohio is a fantastic community, full of people who work hard. I think that’s why there’s so much attention and anticipation – because LeBron makes a great metaphor for the region.

Hang on, it’s going to be a great ride!
