How OnBase 17 cured my fear of being an early adopter

I’m not what you would call an early adopter. You know, one of the first people to jump on the hottest new tech trends.

In fact, I had a discussion with my wife about my Instagram account just this morning. I was ready to lose my seven followers – six family members and said wife – by creating a new account. One with a password that would work. Which we’re not going to talk about.

At this point, my wife noted that for her to install Instagram on my phone, I would need to supply her with my Apple ID, which we’re definitely not going to talk about.

Keeping up with the speed of change

What we are going to talk about is why – personal social apps for sharing mountain bike pictures aside – it’s imperative that your organization keeps pace with technology. People are creating powerful new apps and upgrades with relentless speed.

That’s why, in most cases, you should upgrade to OnBase 17.

Hyland is committed to providing annual releases of OnBase that are compatible with the latest and greatest changes the world has to offer. We work closely with other software vendors so we can receive advanced releases of their upcoming upgrades and make sure that OnBase is compatible with them.

– Bill Filion, VP of software development

We’re committed to simplifying the way people work. With each release, we make sure OnBase remains relevant in your IT environment and this next release, OnBase 17, follows suit.

And we make sure the important integrations that allow your systems to communicate continue to do so – making it easy for your organization to access current information.

“The world of software is a very fluid one,” says Filion. “There are new operating systems, browser versions, file formats and computing paradigms appearing on a never-ending basis. Making sure your business is prepared to adapt to the changes happening outside your walls is important.”

Not only are we adding more than 3,000 functional enhancements to OnBase with this release, we’re also updating the entire experience with a new, modern look and feel. As technology users ourselves, we know how users’ expectations have changed and we have evolved the OnBase interface with them in mind. Additionally, many of the enhancements added to our software suite provide tools and features that continue to improve employee and process efficiencies.

Making it easier on you

And being Hyland, we want to make it as easy for you as possible. So we provide you with upgrade options.

Or, maybe you’re like me. Your IT department does all the work for you. And since, like me, you love your IT department – because they fix things you don’t want to talk about – you’re happy we make upgrading as easy as we can.

Like me, you want to just log into the system. A system that, thankfully, automatically knows our passwords. So we click a button, get all the new functionality, and find the information we need, faster.

In a matter of weeks, we will release OnBase 17. In fact, it’s installing itself on my computer as I write this. Maybe I’m going to become a famous early adopter!

… Just don’t look for pictures that prove it on Instagram anytime soon.
