OnBase Outsourced System Admin, it’s about time
The more I talk to them, the more I realize that an increasing number of OnBase System Administrators are recognizing opportunities within their organizations to improve business processes, save money and reduce IT sprawl by expanding their OnBase solutions.
This is all very exciting, however: they do not have the bandwidth to take these projects on.
This often results in departments purchasing niche applications that IT now has to install, support, conduct end user training, upgrade and maintain.
Reinforcing this notion, last month I had the great fortune to emcee our Los Angeles and San Francisco OnBase User Forums. These events are great opportunities to network with other OnBase professionals in your corner of the world, hear company and product updates, identify ways to grow your OnBase solution and so much more.
Throughout both events, I spoke with OnBase professionals who were very excited to implement new functionality they had learned about throughout the day. Workview and workflow management were big topics of conversation.
Both Ed McQuiston, our senior vice president of global sales and marketing, and Tom Vitale, manager of our product evangelists, spoke to the power of workview – or what we sometimes call case manager. Workview provides case workers with 360-degree views of all the information they need to better manage the unpredictable work that requires their knowledge and expertise.
Then there’s workflow, which automatically forwards work through processes while alerting stakeholders as it does so.
Great solutions, but who has the time?
Following the event, we hosted a happy hour and I was part of an exciting conversation among the attendees about implementing workview solutions. When I asked what obstacles administrators were experiencing or what we could do to help them implement the solutions they had identified, the response was unanimous: We do not have enough time or resources to take on a new project.
In a separate conversation, I met a person who has owned workflow for many years, but has never implemented it. She is familiar with the business processes that workflow would support and optimize, but with her organization’s upcoming upgrade to OnBase 17 and the constant addition of end users, she doesn’t feel like she can take on discovery, development and deployment of a new project.
In both conversations, I brought up the option to have Hyland provide an Outsourced System Administrator to assist with day-to-day tasks. Without exception, they were very excited about the opportunity to have a highly trained OnBase expert cover for them, allowing time to implement new solutions across their organizations.
What if you could have someone perform all of your day-to-day OnBase administration for the next month? Two months? Six months?
What projects would you take on? Would you implement in a new department? Introduce new solutions? Take your first coffee break?
Don’t be shy, I would love to hear from you!
