Fly me to the moon, (well, Vegas!); it sure doesn’t feel like training

CommunityLIVE 2015 General Session Chairs

Many of my coworkers at Hyland, creator of OnBase are counting down to the moment their feet hit the conference floor at the Venetian in Las Vegas for our annual user conference, CommunityLIVE! And that floor is humming, as the start of the conference is the culmination of a great energy that has been building for months.

From the time we packed up to come home from last year’s show until now, we’ve been preparing for this week. Our trainers and subject matter experts have been collaborating with customers, partners and technology peers to understand the hurdles our users are facing, how industry changes are affecting them and how together with OnBase, we can make magic happen for them and their organizations.

This group of traveling Hylanders is also really, really good at understanding how to get the most out of the conference. Here are their three key tips:

1. Plan

In addition to the sessions and scheduled evening events, make sure to plan some time to visit our Education Services Expert Station in the Marcello room.

There, you’ll have the opportunity to chat one-on-one with our trainers, OnBase developers and even the Director of Education Services. You can learn about the new Education Services website that we are about to launch, built as a result of many conversations with customers who use it for education and certification planning, as well as remote learning. The new site truly extends the classroom, bringing our experts to your location anywhere across the globe.

Additional Expert Stations provide the opportunity to chat with experts regarding industry-specific solutions, emerging technologies—like My OnBase Planner—and our services offerings, including Conversion Services, Imaging Services and Enterprise consulting services.

2. Pass it on

As you move through your day, you’ll have the opportunity to talk with Hyland employees of all roles, from developers to solution designers to executives from all areas of the organization. And every one of those people can help you get your questions answered or introduce you to the person you were hoping to have a conversation with.

When you communicate what you are interested in or what you want to learn, the conference suddenly becomes customized to you, and you’ll be surprised at how many people will jump in to make sure you get what you need.

3. Participate

You’ll likely come to CommunityLIVE with a list of sessions you want to attend and areas you want to explore. And you’ll be exposed to technologies and Hyland Global Services offerings that probably were not on your radar. Take advantage of exploring those areas in this arena…the knowledge and resources you find are available may give you keen insight into how to take on an initiative, project, conversion effort or expansion that may have seemed out of reach, but could make an innovative, game-changing difference to your organization and the people it serves.

The great thing about this conference is that you can be sitting at breakfast and right next to you is someone in your industry who just recently implemented the solution you are researching. And nearby is an OnBase professional who can put you in touch with a subject matter expert for that solution.

The peer-to-peer and expert knowledge sharing for all roles of OnBase professionals that occurs every year at this show is unmatched by any other training event, and, happily, it doesn’t feel like work at all.
