Innovation Showdown: GOVies at #CommunityLIVE

Next week’s CommunityLIVE will be notable for the first appearance of an Innovation Showdown focused on digital transformation. If you are unfamiliar with the Innovation Showdown, each year the Hyland Government Team invites end users to submit their best projects around a theme.

This year, it’s digital transformation and every submission featured a web-based tool to begin a government transaction, automation to move the process efficiently and transparently, and case management to manage data and processes without manual systems.

Innovation on display @ 3:30 p.m., Tuesday

So, what are some of the specific characteristics of these projects?

  • The tools to transform

Every one of these solutions relies on a core set of features and functionality. First, a website to start the transaction without paper. Second, workflow to move the process along without paper. Then, the data capabilities of case management to manage the data, process and information in a way that eliminates staff time that is often devoted to manual tracking systems.

With this line-up of tools, you achieve the end-to-end digital process that is at center of digital transformation.

  • The tools to respond

The solutions we’ll be featuring share the features above and another characteristic that applications staff love – configurability. Beautiful, elegant digital transformation projects are one thing, getting them done in a world of short staff, low budgets, cyber-threats and day-to-day support is another.

Great projects that can’t rely on a rapid application development platform usually don’t get done, or they take so long that they emerge already behind the relentless pace of technology. This year’s submissions take advantage of OnBase’s configurability to deliver solutions quicker.

Faster solutions means faster impact and generally, happy end users! That’s how you respond to the pressure of moving into the digital transformation world.

  • The vision to transform

Every submission is an example of a great solution development, but the most inspiring thing isn’t necessarily the solutions. More than 18,000 lifetime customers across industries and governments have used OnBase to drive efficiencies and connect with their customers. But what sets these projects apart is the vision to transform.

When we talk about digital transformation projects, there could be a tendency to dwell on the workflow, the website or some other software tool. But, what inspires me, and my fellow Hylanders, is the vision of our end user community to use their solutions to serve their peers, their constituents and their customers better. It’s the vision to transform their everyday work to be more efficient, but more importantly, to serve.

Can’t make it? We’ve got you covered

If you aren’t attending CommunityLIVE this year, don’t worry. You’ll be able to experience these stories and many more through our online forum (Community), case studies, webinars and blog posts like these. In every instance, you’ll see that the tools to respond and transform your processes are combined with the vision to imagine (perhaps, dream of) how that process could improve.

And, when you are inspired to do great work for your constituents, digital transformation is no longer an analyst concept, it’s the way your government organization will survive.

See you next week in Nashville!
